Marking the International  Volunteering Day, Democracy for Development Institute (D4D) launched the first incubator for civic activism and voluntarism as well as the animation “Volunteer for Development” that aims to promote volunteer work.

This activity took place as part of the project “Volunteer for Development: Promoting Civic Activism and Volunteerism in Kosovo" which is being implemented in cooperation with George William Youth Association (GWY) and financially supported by the British Embassy in Prishtina.

The first incubator for civic activism and volunteerism aims to support community based organizations led by volunteers. First members to join this incubator are: Democracy for Development (D4D), George William Youth Association (GWY), Syri i Vizionit (SiV), Kosovo CSR Network and IPKO Foundation.

In the framework of the incubator for civic activism and volunteerism, first 7 grants were awarded for the projects that promote civic activism and voluntarism in Gjilan, Kamenica, Vitia, Peja, Vitomerica, Gorazdevac (CTI-P) Ferizaj (IPEDU), Mitrovica ( Hammers Moto Club), Gracanica (Udruženje mladih - Mlada aktivna Gračanica) and Prishtina (EWB and Education Comes First).

British Ambassador Mr. Ruairi O’Connell and Mr. Shpend Emini – Executive Director of D4D encouraged volunteers to continue making changes in the society through volunteer work and civic activism.
