In the previous days, companies, organizations and citizens across the region have organized numerous initiatives aimed at supporting children from various categories.

Donations of Foundation ‘Humanist’

Within a project called ‘New Year Magic’, Foundation ‘Humanist’, with the support of their donors, media and celebrities, has donated 1,500 gifts to children from socially vulnerable families, and to children at children’s oncology wards and shelters.

In addition to donating gifts for children, they have also provided food, clothes and other necessities to families in financial need.

Initiative ‘Be Children’s Friend’

From January 25 to March 21, you can participate in the humanitarian action ‘Be Children’s Friend’ by buying designated products at Tommy chain store and thus help the refurbishment of the Children’s Clinic in Split, more precisely – the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).

This humanitarian action is carried out all across Croatia, involving more than 300 products, which you can purchase to contribute to the initiative.

This is the second time Tommy has organized a humanitarian action for the Children’s Clinic in Split. In the first action, which was realized last year, more than HRK 324,000 was raised.

Initiative ‘Children to Children Affected by the Earthquake’

As part of the initiative ‘Children to Children Affected by the Earthquake’, children from kindergartens Ploče, Gradac and Vrgorac in Dalmatia gathered and wrapped more than 400 gifts for children living in the area of Banovina.

The gifts are already on their way to the children who attended kindergarten ‘Sisak stari’.

Children gather school supplies for their peers from Petrinja

The Volunteer Club of ‘Eugena Kumičića’ Elementary School has organized a humanitarian action of collecting support for 402 pupils of ‘Mate Lovraka’ Elementary School in Petrinja.

Until January 28, the pupils will collect school supplies, candy, board games and educational games for their peers from Petrinja. Already on January 29, volunteers will make packages for each of the pupils individually, while gifts will be transported to Petrinja in the following days.

NLB Bank supported the work of Big Brother Big Sister Foundation

NLB Bank d.d. Sarajevo and its employees have donated KM 11,574 to the Foundation for the support and development of mentorship ‘Big Brother Big Sister’.

The donation is aimed at strengthening social skills of children from foster homes, from socially vulnerable families, and children facing other difficulties in their childhood and growing up.

Big Brother Big Sister Foundation is glad that NLB Bank and its employees have recognized the importance of this project and that they will engage in volunteer activities.

“Owing to this donation, another 20 children in need of a mentor will have a chance to grow up with a big brother or sister. On behalf of all volunteers and children, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us”, reads the Foundation’s statement.

Initiative organized by Association ‘Love for Love’

Several days ago, Association ‘Love for Love’ organized a humanitarian action called ‘Fashion Designers & Love for Love’ at Independence Square in Podgorica. The aim of this action was to improve the position of children and youth with Down syndrome in Montenegro.

A total of EUR 270 was raised owing to the sale of pieces donated by various fashion designers from Montenegro.

The following designers supported the action: Lazar Ilić, Marina Banović, Dejana Lukić, Nada Koljenšić, Sanja Bobar, Milena Đurđić, Nataša Pejović, Kristina Ilić, and Edita Nimanbegu – Barović.

Basketball Federation of Montenegro and Montenegro E-Sports Association donated equipment

The Basketball Federation of Montenegro and Montenegro E-Sports Association have donated equipment to Children’s Home ‘Mladost’ in Bijela.

They have donated two basketball hoops and 15 balls, providing the beneficiaries of the Children’s Home with complete basketball equipment.

Association ‘Heart for Children’ initiated nutrition project for children with cancer

Association ’Heart for Children with Cancer’ has initiated a project called ‘Nutrition support to children suffering and cured from cancer’, which starts this January and will last one year. This project aims at helping children and parents learn about healthy nutrition, how to improve their life styles and how to get rid of bad eating habits.

The project includes developing individual nutrition plans and following the progress of children, whose parents enrolled them in this program through a set of the Association’s services, 6 group nutrition workshops for all parents, and development of nutrition handbooks that will serve as the source of information for parents of children with cancer if they have any questions about how to organize a healthy diet for their children.

The project is realized owing to the support of the Employee Foundation of the VKR Group, at the proposal of Velux Bosnia and Herzegovina which funded this project with KM 10,000.
