World refugee day marks on June 20. For that occasion, on June 14, an unusual representation of theater play „Cinderella“ took place in Belgrade. Refugee children from the shelter in Kikinda prepared and played this piece, completely in Serbian.

This is the second play prepared by refugee children. „Cindrella“’s premiere was in May this year, at the National Theater of Kikinda, with more than 400 people in the audience. Little actors prepared this piece with unselfish help of educators from the organization SOS Children’s Villages. The play is made as part of the program „Solidarity“ that SOS Children’s Villages started in 2015.

As Vesna Mraković-Jokanović, the national director of SOS Children’s villages said:“ This is a nice way of marking the World Refugee Day but also a reminder that every child has the right on moments of joy and happy childhood.“

SOS Children’s Village offer help in 12 of 18 shelters in total. They provide food, hygiene products, psycho-social and educational support to refugee children and their families.
