A couple of days ago, in a city not so far away...

It is a period of Jedicons. Rebels and Jedi, working from a base in Niš, have organized their first event on December 9, 2017. During the convention, they raised EUR 500 (RSD 57,000) to support NURDOR and 8kg of toys for children in need.

The Niš Jedi Movement is a nonprofit that has been promoting the ideas and values of Jediism for the past 4 years in their community. Just a couple of days before Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiered, they have organized a first Jedicon in Niš - an event which takes place all over the world and is organized by the enthusiasts who celebrate their favorite heroes from a galaxy far, far away.

Costumes, figurines, light side and dark side characters’ action figures, flight simulator, lightsabers, comicbooks, board games - the whole Star Wars extended universe was in Niš last Saturday. They even had a fashion show inspired by Princess Leia: the Princesses wore creations in white by Serbian fashion designers and had famous Leia’s buns.

But be assured - Jedicon is not (just) fun and games. It’s much more. Jedi believe that they can overcome their limits and achieve a balance and prosperity in their community only if they constantly work on their intellectual, spiritual and physical wellness.

That is why the convention had a charitable aspect as well. One half of all the funds raised through ticket, toy and fashion sales went to NURDOR - an association that takes care of children living with cancer. Jedi have also collected 8kg of toys for children in need.
