An Anonymous Millionaire Donated 5,000 Bitcoins to 60 Organizations Involved in Research or Projects
At the end of last year, an anonymous benefactor “Pine” from the so-called Pineapple Fund published on its website a call for organizations, to which a total of $86 million was provided (the equivalent of 5,000 Bitcoins). A person behind this foundation, who wants to remain anonymous, has gained wealth through cryptocurrencies.
This call was published in December 2017 for organizations that need money for research or projects. To date, over $ 55 million has been donated to 60 organizations, such as the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, which carries out MDMA (the component of ecstasy) research on people with post-traumatic disorders, and The Water project, which aims to provide clean water in sub-Saharan Africa.
The slogan of the Pineapple Fund is "When you have enough money, money is no longer important". To this day, Pine remains anonymous. As he or she says, it is better for people to think that you are just well-off, not that you are extremely rich. And speaking about the name of the foundation - Pine just loves to eat pineapple.
